MOUNTAIN CLIMBING

Brett & I have had the honor of training in some fairly harsh conditions with world-class Guide Gary Scott (founder of Right Path Adventures, world record for fastest ascent of Denali, team leader of 2 Everest Expeditions).  We also were fortunate enough to meet his friend Marshall Ulrich, and use his house as a staging area.  Marshall has completed the Seven Summits, hundreds of ultra-distance endurance events, and all 9 Eco Challenge Adventure Races.

In Aug 2008, we summitted Mt Kilimanjaro as part of an expedition led by renowned guide Jeff Evans, (founder of Mountain Vision, he led the first blind man to summit Everest in 2001).

VOLUNTOURISM

thai family post-Tsunami recoveryAfter the devastating Tsunami struck south east Asia, I joined a couple of friends on a private trip to volunteer.  Once there, we met up with passionate volunteers from all corners of the globe who were drawn by a similar desire to help in the recovery efforts, regardless of the personal dangers involved.
The gratitude of the Thai people when random strangers started arriving from distant countries to help them rebuild their homes was beyond words.

Shot first person, this video conveys the insanity of the Coney Island Polar Bear Plunge on New Years Day 2009
Urban Rappelling

Occasionally, an idea comes up that is simply too tempting to resist.  Once such adventure was rappelling down my 40 story apartment building in midtown Manhattan, with the Chrysler building as an iconic backdrop.  Perhaps not surprising, 2 other friends, Jeremy and Larry, were bold enough to join in.
